The Florentine Studios in the Former Nobel Industrial Area

Town of Signa (Province of Florence)

2003 - 2004

In an area of significant natural beauty, the Florentine Studios Project involved the rebuilding of the industrial area formerly occupied by the Nobel Dynamite Factory in order to create a film-industry site in Tuscany.

The desire to maintain the historical integrity of this former industrial site during rebuilding governed the “new city” project, which was intended to integrate movie studios, a film school, accommodation facilities (including hotels, apartments, and spas), a commercial area, apartments, and an ample green space intended for a theme park, athletic fields, and the studio back lot.

The complex as a whole was designed as a multifunction machine and dedicated  to the deployment of the most advanced technologies available.
