Restoration and Adaptive Re-Use of Coop Supermarket Building

Town of Sesto Fiorentino (Province of Florence)

2005 - 2006

Work here involved the restoration and adaptive re-use of the commercial space belonging to the Coop Supermarket in the historic center of Sesto Fiorentino and accessible through Piazza Vittorio Veneto, Via Cavallotti, and Via Dante Alighieri.

The building, which was designated of special artistic value, had been built in the 1970s and designed by the architect, Edoardo Detti.

The levels intended for business activities were completely reconceived in keeping with new functional lay-outs. Retail food establishments were housed in the basement, while the sale of non-food items was allocated to other floors. In adapting these environments, access for the public and for merchandise was also reorganized.
