This project involves the restoration and renovation of an existing building and contemplates an extension that will serve to add continuity to an inherent balance in space and dimension. Special emphasis has been placed on maintaining the design and thematic elements of the historical building as evidenced in the street-level porticos and their spatial properties which became the unifying theme for the newly built sections.

The complex is divided into two parts and is constructed on three levels. Administrative offices, a meeting room, and a workshop at street level will be located in the restoration site. Six additional workshop areas and the main access to the front offices of the science center, meanwhile, will be folded into the expansion project. Special attention has been focused on achieving improved energy sustainability through the use of electrical and HVAC systems that will make the building self-sufficient.
