Marinella Project

Towns of Ameglia/Sarzana (Province of La Spezia)

1999-2000

The project encompassed a large area between the Towns of Ameglia and Sarzana and formed a part of the historic Marinella Estate first established in the 1800s and essentially unchanged to the present day.

The project’s main approaches were directed toward the redevelopment of agricultural activities and of seaside resorts and facilities, the rebuilding of Marinella’s historic center, the creation of facilities dedicated to water sports and boating, and the completion of building in the village of Bocca di Magra.

The overriding objective of the Marinella Project was to identify a cohesive model for the organization and reuse of this area in the lower Val di Magra Valley in such a way as to enhance its natural/environmental value and its opportunities for tourism while simultaneously safeguarding agricultural production on the land.
