Administrative Office Building

City of Florence - Italy

1994 - 1996

This administrative office building, which was originally constructed as the headquarters of IBM in Tuscany (today, the building houses various government and private offices), extends over five above-ground floors and a basement level designed as a parking area.

This simple and austere building was designed in prefab metal with facings in alternating glass and panels in glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) to create an articulate composition and punctuate the entranceways. Above, a lightweight awning both adorns and protects the façade and safeguards machinery and other installations within.

The internal space is subdivided with lightweight elements that permit the greatest flexibility of use.
